Daken is always committed to its region. This year, for the first time, we are the official main sponsor of the ‘Festa della Bruna’, the patronal festival of the city of Matera.
This festival is one of the most enthusiastically awaited events in the area. Every year, on the 2nd of July, the religious and the people gather for the celebration of the ‘Madonna della Bruna‘, the city‘s patron saint.
Daken shows its commitment to the region by focusing on the community and its artistic and cultural heritage. We invest to protect the local traditions and pass them on to younger generations.

The grand patronal festival of Matera has ancient origins. The different legends from which it originates date back to over 600 years ago.
These have been handed down from generation to generation, and today, every 2 July of the year, the festival consists of a series of itineraries and celebrations taking place throughout the day.
It starts at dawn and it ends at midnight with the spectacular fireworks over the Murgia.
The most folkloristic moment, awaited by all the citizens, is the famous ‘strazzo del carro‘. The triumphal float that runs through the main streets of the city in the afternoon is in fact destroyed in a few moments: everyone tries to take away a piece of the float, a symbol of prosperity and good omen for the year to come.
